Beyond the Ring: The Meaning Behind “Wolf Eye”
Beyond professional wrestling, Naira represents her Abenaki heritage through her character, “Wolf Eye” the Red-Handed Warrior, using her platform to raise awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW).
Naira describes “Wolf Eye”as a warrior guided by her ancestors and committed to ensuring their stories are not forgotten.
“Wolf Eye” intimidating appearance is intentional. Naira embraces the discomfort her character may create, reflecting the painful realities surrounding missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.
According to Naira, the red handprint covering her mouth symbolizes the voices of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. She explains that red is the color her ancestors can see, allowing their spirits to find her and speak through her.
Rather than representing silence, the handprint serves as a reminder of those whose voices deserve to be heard. The white eye carries a deeper spiritual meaning, symbolizing thousands of souls looking back through her and representing the presence of those who came before her.
Through “Wolf Eye”, Naira combines her cultural identity with professional wrestling, using her presence inside the ring to honor her ancestors, represent her community, and bring attention to a cause greater than competition.
